The trophy was inaugurated in 1984 as the prize for the best shot with a pistol in the club.

The trophy is awarded annually to the best pistol shot in the club. It is normally contested for using a league type competition. It was originally shot at 20 yards indoors over the winter season with .22 rimfire pistols but after the banning of such firearms the competition fell into disuse in 1996. After the purchase, by the club, of a C02 powered pistol in 1998 and the construction of a 6 yard range the competition was ressurected.
